Review of Blueprint, Nottingham
Formerly the Sky Club, this slightly out of town venue has gone back to the drawing board and come up with a new plan for success. This masterstoke has involved...wait for it...changing the name. It's had a lick of paint too, to be fair, but no major structural upheavals. So it's still a lightly shonky venue offering some slightly more leftfield events than most of the house and r'n'b driven dance clubs of the city. Nights have initially been a little hit and miss but there should be room in the musical landscape for this mid–sized club.

Rescue Rooms
Kind of a three trick pony this one – bar, live venue and club all in one. It's brought to Nottingham by the people behind Rock City – and if anyone knows how to go about running a gig venue, these chaps do. The 500 capacity bridges the gap between bigger and smaller venues in Notti Read more about Rescue Rooms
Rock City
Buff up that medallion and grease down those leather pants – it's time to rock. Irrefutably one of the best rock clubs in the country, this huge venue is regularly packed to the rafters with rock chicks and cock-rock love gods. While the main room looks like a Spinal Tap convention, the s Read more about Rock City
The Chameleon
By day, a little tea room above Clinton Cards; by night, an explosive music venue. When the Chameleon comes out to play, the curtains of the thirty-odd capacity room remain firmly closed, and while high ceilings lend an air of faded grandeur, general grime overrides. Broken sofas and a 'stage Read more about The Chameleon

The Irish Centre
The Irish isn't going to win any style awards. Looking somewhere between a run down parish church hall and a working men's club, there are precarious-looking seats around the outside, presumably to collapse onto when you've finished dancing on the tables in the middle. Your co-dancers... Read more about The Irish Centre
The Irish Centre
A dress code that clearly stipulates pants must be worn on head and trousers around ankles is usually confirmation of student club status. Whilst impromptu full monties are actually a rarity, the kind of high jinks usualll associated with partying students is commonplace here, and that means shambol... Read more about The Irish Centre
The Irish Centre
The Irish as it's more commonly called is not trendy, clean, cheap or even particularly easy to find. Despite this, it's well worth grabbing your map and compass and venturing to the dark side of the Broad Marsh area to see just how silly you can get when surrounded by others... Faces
I don't actually own a copy, so I couldn't tell you on which mage of the PFA players handbook it states that upon visiting Nottingham all professional footballers must converge in Faces nightclub, but it's definitely in there. Personally, I wouldn't show my arse in here, never mi... Read more about Faces

Media
When Media first opened it was a place for cool clubbers, then after a few cheesy years in the wilderness it was bought by clubbing Mecca Gatecrasher. The result is that it's now so far up its own arse that it's all but lost, concentrating more on getting rich and ramming in an enormous nu... Read more about Media
Casa (now called The Approach needs new review)
As popular now as when it re-launched under its new name and ownership two years ago, Approach is now attracting even more music followers, weekend party people (and nutters) following the opening of its 300 capacity basement late last year. Head down Monday if you want to take to the stage yoursel... Read more about Casa (now called The Approach needs new review)
Lizard Lounge
Expanding its opening times to include a bar clientele as well as a clubbing crowd and two different student nights to cater for both of the city's universities, Lizard Lounge is certainly trying to please. With the (self-confessed) best doormen in town and three floors to choose from, you shou... Read more about Lizard Lounge

Mode Lounge Bar and Club
Opening night here saw Norman Jay – MBE – and Trevor Nelson spinning the decks to an up for it crowd which was a real sign of things to come for this new kkid in town.
